Isole Olena is located between Firenze and Siena in the heart of the Chianti Classico region and consists of two vineyards “ISOLE” and "OLENA" which were purchased by the De Marchi family in 1950 and combined into one property with an area of 50 hectares, located at 350 - 450 meters above sea level.
The history of both estates dates back many centuries and the earliest information about the village of Olena dates back to the 12th century. Today, the ISOLE E OLENA estate is managed by Paolo de Marchi and his wife Marta, who are considered one of the 10 best small wine producers in the world.
Paolo de Marchi graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture - enology in 1976. in Turin.
Today he has close contacts with the Enology Faculties of the Universities of Beaune, Montpellier, Turin, Geisenheim and California at Davis.
Paolo comes from a family that has three generations of winemaking experience, and his son Luca owns an estate in the northern part of Piemonte – Proprieta Sperino, where he produces wine.
